A Quick Visit to Kirkstall Abbey

Hi chums!

Last Friday I had the chance to visit Kirkstall Abbey so I braced myself against the cold and went to check it out!

Some of the flowers had started to come out so I feel like Spring is just around the corner!

The abbey was really impressive and the remains were in really good tact. I thought the abbey would look more detroyed than it was, but most of it is still standing strong.

The abbey is about 15 minutes from Leeds city centre so it's super handy for me as I'm currently studying at Leeds uni.

I wanted to show you a few pictures that I took on my visit - I hope you like them!

We didn't stay at the abbey too long because we were so cold, but I'd love to go back and take more pictures when the weather is a bit nicer.

I hope you all have a great week!

Wednesday's Wise Words | 2

Hi chums!

So I haven't done one of these posts for a couple of weeks, but not to worry, my love of quotes is still going strong!

The reason I chose this quote this week is because I was thinking about things I did when I was younger that I no longer do now.

I always loved to do lots of extra curricular activities at school and at one point I was doing so much that I became super overwhelmed and wasn't in such a good place! I was determined not to quit anything and I eventually made it through, though I wasn't happy all the time whilst doing this. Life felt like a huge chore because every week I would take it day by day to get myself through (yes, I'm being a tad dramatic but I seriously did find it quite hard #firstworldproblems).

Thinking about this now I can see that I probably should have given up one or two things. This wouldn't have been me failing because it's never a failure to stop something as long as it's for the right reasons. As long as you put 100% into everything you do, you can't fail at anything.

I have found the last few months pretty hard for several reasons (won't mention them now), but looking back now I can say I'm really happy I haven't quit. I may not be a winner and I have had my fair share of failures, but I'm not a quitter and for me that's the most important thing!

I hope you are all having an amazing week!

The Perfect Pink Palette for Valentine's Day

Hi chums!

It is Valentine's Day tomorrow which, for me, is the day of pink everything (though I guess you could go for red too!)

To fulfill my pink eye shadow dreams I am going to used the Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette because it's got so many pretty pink shades. I like to use the lighter ones for daytime and the darker ones to create a smokey look for nighttime, but to be honest it's so versatile so you can mix and match any shades you want!

I hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day, whatever you're doing!

Chester through my Phone

Hi chums!

You may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram (@sightsnstripes) that last week I went to Chester. I was actually only there for less than 24 hours (I will let you know why soon...!) so I didn't have much time to explore the town.

I rushed around after my meeting to look around the city. Chester is actually really beautiful because a lot of the buildings are old-fashioned so it's really pretty. I only took photos on my phone because, as I said, I didn't have much time, but I still wanted to share them with you!

Thanks for reading!

Love as always,
